FAQs
How do Picky Girl Press-Ons work?
- Start with the sizing kit to find your size.
- Compare your measurements to the size chart found below or on every product page.
- Pick a design and size according to your measurements.
- Place your order and wear your nails!
*If you're between sizes, it's better to size up as the nails can be lightly filed to fit you.
What's the difference between these and drug-store press-ons?
Most drugstore press-ons are made from ABS plastic. They bend easily, lose their shape fast, and rarely make it past a few days while holding their original shape.
Picky Girl Press-Ons are made with gel, so they have real structure from the moment you put them on.
Every set is hand-painted by skilled artisans with detailed, dimensional designs, not mass-produced in a factory.
They're built to last up to 2–3 weeks with glue and can be reused 3–5 times with proper care. Once you wear these, you won't go back.
What are the nails made of?
Gel polish.
That's what gives them their structure and durability. They won't bend, warp, or feel flimsy like the plastic press-ons you've probably tried before.
Each set is hand-painted and checked for quality before shipping.
How long do these press-ons last?
Picky Girl Press-Ons are made using gel. They're significantly sturdier than what you're used to - you'll feel the difference as soon as you take them out of the packaging.
With the glue method, expect at least 2-3 weeks of wear. Just be sure to follow the instructions to prep your nails and really take your time in doing so.
The tabs are meant for a shorter wear time. We recommend tabs to be worn for up to 24 hours. Some customers report the tabs have lasted them up to 5 days.
Are they reusable? How many times can I wear them?
Yes, Picky Girl Press-Ons are designed to be reused.
With proper removal and care, you can get at least 3–5 wears out of a single set.
Just make sure you're removing them gently and cleaning off any leftover glue or adhesive before storing them back in the case.
How do I find my size?
There are 3 ways to find your size!
- For the most accurate, you can order a sizing kit.
- You can also take a piece of tape and apply to the widest part of your nail bed. Mark the edges of your nail using a pen. Remove the tape and measure by millimeters with a ruler. Use the size chart below to compare.
- Use a soft measuring tape and use the centimeter side. Wrap it around the widest part of your nail bed. Line the 0 line with 1 side of your nail and count the millimeter lines to the other side of your nail. Do this for both hands and record the measurements. Compare to the sizing chart below.
*If you're in between sizes, size up and lightly file the base of the nail to fit you.
Should I use the glue or tabs?
This will depend on how long you want to wear your nails.
Use the glue if you want your nails to last you 2-3 weeks.
Use the tabs if you want them to last up to 24 hours.
How do I prep my nails?
8.Use the nail prep kit that is included in your order.
*For best results use a cuticle removing cream to remove cuticles.
- Use the pusher to push back cuticles. This will allow the nail to sit flush on the surface.
- Buff the surface of your nails to remove any shine using the nail file. The shine prevents the glue or tabs from gripping your nail.
- Remove any oils and dehydrate the nail surface with the alcohol wipe.
- Apply the glue or tabs and apply your nails.
- Finish with cuticle oil (for glue only) and you're done!
How do I apply my nails?
Follow the directions in the tab above to prep. Be sure to use the nail prep kit included in your order.
For tabs:
1. Measure the tabs to your nails.
2. Apply the tabs on the back of your press-on. You can use a blow dryer on low heat to warm up the glue.
3. At a 45 degree angle, firmly press and hold the nail in place for 30 seconds. Repeat for all nails.
For glue:
1. Poke a small hole in the glue using a sharp pin.
2. Start with your non-dominant hand and at the pinky.
3. Generously apply the glue all over your nail bed and on the back of your press-on.
4. Apply the press-on at a 45 degree angle to avoid air bubbles.
5. Hold in place with light pressure for 30 seconds (this will prevent glue from leaking). Wipe off any excess glue from the skin. Repeat.
*Avoid water on your nails for 2 hours for better adhesion.
How long will it take to apply them?
It depends on your method.
If you're using tabs, you can be done in about 10–15 minutes.
If you're going with glue and want the longest wear, give yourself at least 20–30 minutes and don't rush the prep.
Clean, buffed, oil-free nails are what make the difference between a set that lasts and one that lifts early.
How do I remove my nails without damaging them?
Do not force them off. Ever.
Fill a bowl with warm soapy water & mix in cuticle oil. Apply a little oil directly to your cuticle area, then soak your nails for about 10 minutes.
Use the included cuticle pusher to gently lift the corners while submerged. The nail should slip right off.
If they're a bit stubborn, re-soak and repeat.
Your natural nail underneath should be completely undamaged. If you notice any glue residue, gently buff it away.
Do they come with glue?
Yes. Each set comes with a nail prep kit, nail glue and adhesive tabs.
We recommend using the glue that is included in your purchase, but you may use any glue that works for you.
To avoid any reactions or allergies, we do not recommend using gel glue, as it needs to be cured under a transparent nail to safely & fully cure.
What if I ordered the wrong size?
If your set is unopened, reach out to us and we'll work with you on an exchange.
Once a set has been opened or tried on, we're unable to accept returns or exchanges for sizing since press-ons are a hygiene product.
If you're unsure about your size before ordering, check our sizing guide.
And remember, when in doubt, size up. You can always file down, but you can't add width.
Do you offer custom orders?
At this time, we do not offer custom orders. We're a small team and want to make sure every set we put out meets our standard before we take on anything new.
Custom orders are something we'd love explore as we grow. So stay tuned!
